  1. When the camera is unavailable, you will see a 'no connected camera' error in programs and services that use it. Screenshot by Topher Kessler/CNET The fix in this case is to force-quit the.
  2. Photo booth says there is no camera available on my macbook air. MacBook Air, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3) Posted on Jun 17, 2013 2:23 PM. Apple disclaims any and all liability for the acts, omissions and conduct of any third parties in connection with or related to your use of the site.
  3. Here is the fix - Quit all applications that are using the camera (for example Photo Booth, Skype, Google Hangouts webpage, etc). Open Terminal from Applications Utilities Terminal. At the command line, write the following command: 'sudo killall VDCAssistant' Hit Enter on your keyboard.

There's an iMac whose FaceTime HD camera isn't displaying video images in applications like FaceTime, Photo Booth, or QuickTime video recorder. OS X El Cap shows that the camera is attached and registered properly in the About This Mac - System Report. Fresh new install of El Cap on a Fusion drive. Previously the camera worked well with Yosemite. Unfortunately, you can run into an issue where you get the dreaded 'There is no connected camera' error when trying to use your Mac FaceTime camera. By reading the message, you might think this is a hardware issue, but it is usually caused by the software or an application that is.

MacBook :: Built-in Camera Works On Skype But Not PhotoBooth

Jun 3, 2012

I have OSX 10.5.8. In the past, I was able to use PhotoBooth, but now when I open it, all options to take a photo are grayed out. The screen, where, I believe, previously I'd seen whatever was in the built-in camera's lens (generally whatever I put in front of the screen to photograph), I now see all black with a white camera icon crossed out. Skype works fine though. When I try to load iChat, it crashes unexpectedly. For clarification, I'm using the built-in cam and do not have external camera hooked up to it. I don't really care about iChat, which I never use, and am very, very glad that Skype, which I do use, is working. However, I would very much like to get PhotoBooth working.

Any time I open an application like Skype, Facetime, or Photobooth, it tells me my built-in camera is not connected.I've had this Macbook Pro since about October of 2011, and this problem didn't start until last month. Before that, it worked perfectly fine. I've restarted my computer several times with no luck, as well as restarted the applications themselves. I don't know what else to do! I don't want to pay to get it fixed if it's something I can easily fix myself. Should I try resetting my SMC?

Sep 6, 2010

My Dad has a 2006 17' iMac that is fully updated and it does have a camera built in as it should. My Dad also has a cannon all in one printer scanner copy machine hooked up to the computer. As of this moment, when I hit an application like Photo Booth or something else that uses the camera, the program says that no camera is connected.
I did a little detective work and found where someone hooked up an all in one HP device and the scanner took over the 'port' that the iSight camera was supposed to be on. I don't know if this is the problem or not but it was all I could come up with. I am pretty Novice when it comes to computers and don't know how to tell what is on any port or how many ports their even are for that matter.

Hardware :: A Network Camera Which Can Be Connected Directly To A Modem?

Oct 22, 2010

I'm about to pull my hair out..
I'm looking for a network camera which can be connected directly to a modem.
A camera which can be controlled (pan/tilt) and viewed through a browser or on an iPad/iPhone. Preferably nightvision, motiondetection and auto upload to a ftp server upon detection.
I noticed 99% of the cameras don't support mac!?
I'm hoping to spend around $400, don't know if this is realistic.
Can anyone recommend a good camera and software to get the job done?
